This unique vessel is made of brown speckled stoneware and features what would typically be a rather mundane color combination of opaque black and a light sandy hue. The light tan covers the bottom third of the pot; the remaining two-thirds of the exterior (and the inside of the pot) are pitch black. It’s the sharp line of clear glaze that rolls across the previously matte black, bouncing light and drawing attention in an understated way.
The interior of the piece is thoroughly coated with the clear glaze, giving the visually interesting effect of reflecting more light than the nearer matte rim, and also making the interior easier to clean.
Food safe. Microwave safe. Hypothetically dishwasher safe, but not recommended.
