This handmade jar was thrown on the potter’s wheel using a speckled brown clay and glazed with a rich navy blue with a semi-matte finish. A band of bright white wraps around the neck of the jar, adding a stark interruption to the understated stillness of the bordering navy glaze.
The white band is dotted from the speckles in the clay, which, amid the high temperatures of a kiln, burn through the white underglaze and create this delightful freckling effect.
